{"id":71941,"date":"2018-11-22T03:51:25","date_gmt":"2018-11-22T01:51:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=71941"},"modified":"2018-11-22T03:51:25","modified_gmt":"2018-11-22T01:51:25","slug":"coss-chiwalo-album-launch-sunday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2018\/11\/22\/coss-chiwalo-album-launch-sunday\/","title":{"rendered":"Coss Chiwalo album launch Sunday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>By Sam Banda Jnr:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Veteran musician Coss Chiwalo, who is one of the oldest members of Alleluya Band has clarified that the new album which he is set to launch on Sunday in Lilongwe is not for Catholics only.<\/p>\n<p>Chiwalo, who has been in the music industry for close to three decades, will be launching a spiritual album titled <em>Mwaitanidwa <\/em>mostly carrying Catholic songs.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cThese are well known songs mostly sang by Catholics but they are for everyone. The tunes are for Catholics but the message is for everyone,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The 15-track album has songs such as \u2018Kalekale A Prophet\u2019, \u2018Inde Ambuye Bwerani\u2019, \u2018Timtame Mwana wa Davide\u2019, \u2018Kumwamba Mulungu Powona\u2019 and \u2018Sacramenti Lopambana\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>He said he has worked hand in hand with Radio Maria ahead of the launch where he has invited artists including Isaac Liotcha, Sir Paul Banda and his brother Lucius, Charles Sinetre, Billy Kaunda, Father Augustine Kaliwu and Alleluya Band.<\/p>\n<p>Chiwalo has said he would be releasing his own album next year.<\/p>\n<p>The musician debuted with <em>Amandikonda <\/em>in 1997 and then followed it up with <em>Amakonda Aliyense <\/em>in 1999.<\/p>\n<p>The two albums were powerful and raised his profile before dropping <em>Mudzithandizana <\/em>in 2001, <em>Chindalandala <\/em>in 2003 and <em>Heart of Hope <\/em>in 2008.<\/p>\n<p>Mwaitanidwa has been produced at Chiwalo\u2019s COJ Studios in Balaka District with assistance from Monty Manyozo.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cMost of the songs in Mwaitanidwa were already done and all what I did was to rework them. It\u2019s part of preserving the songs. This is the first time for me to embark on a project of spiritual songs,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The veteran musician said he would wait for feedback from people.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cAt the moment, I am not sure how people will welcome the songs but, if I get positive feedback, then I will make sure that I do more every year,\u201d<\/em> Chiwalo said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>He admitted that it has been long since he released an album.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cIt\u2019s been 10 years since I released an album; so, it is time to give people something,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Sam Banda Jnr: Veteran musician Coss Chiwalo, who is one of the oldest members of Alleluya Band has clarified that the new album which he is set to launch on Sunday in Lilongwe is not for Catholics only.
