Karonga\u2013based group Lusubilo Band starts its countrywide tour with a free performance at Karonga Museum Saturday afternoon.<\/p>\n
And this being the group\u2019s home, Lusubilo Band decided to hold a free concert that will also feature Tiwonge Hango creator of the song \u2018Mama Africa.\u2019<\/p>\n
\u201cWe thought we should start the countrywide tour in Karonga which is our home and just to bring people together and appreciate our music. Again we want to take this opportunity to sell the copies of the DVD Sing for Hope <\/em>which features performances in South Korea,\u201d said Lusubilo Music Centre Coordinator Manasseh Chisiza.<\/p>\n Lusubilo which has a brass section performed in South Korea live last year at the National Theatre.<\/p>\n After a free show in Karonga, the band which has impressed people with their live performances will then perform at Mzuzu Boma Park on Sunday.<\/p>\n In Mzuzu, Lusubilo is expected to share the stage once again with Tiwonge Hango.<\/p>\n The award winning group, which was voted the Best Band in the 2014 Music Malawi (Muma) Awards spearheaded by Media Corp and Trocadero Consulting in partnership with Musicians Union of Malawi (Mum), will also perform in Blantyre at Mibawa Caf\u00e9 on August 15 and Lilongwe Golf Club on August 16.<\/p>\n In Blantyre Lusubilo will perform with Edgar ndi Davis Band as well as veteran Giddes Chalamanda.<\/p>\n Lusubilo Band which fuses traditional dances with Jazz went to Korea led by Professor Agnes Kim, who has been instrumental in establishing Lusubilo Music Centre in Karonga.<\/p>\n Lusibilo Band which won the Chibuku Road to Fame in 2012 held three concerts in Korea is determined to offer more to Malawians.<\/p>\n Their afro-Jazz and pop DVD features several songs including their top track \u2018Africa Inuka. The other songs are \u2018Kachitsa,\u2019 \u2018Kalonga,\u2019 \u2018Asimenye,\u2019 and Lupakisho while the jazz songs include \u2018Colonial Mentality,\u2019 \u2018 4 on 6,\u2019 \u2018Purple Gazelle,\u2019 \u2018Song for my father,\u2019 and \u2018Papa Frado.\u2019<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Karonga\u2013based group Lusubilo Band starts its countrywide tour with a free performance at Karonga Museum Saturday afternoon.
