Murder suspect in the shooting of a Chimwankhunda resident Ali Kaka Chinemba, who was granted bail by the High Court in Blantyre in August 2014 is said to have jumped bail and is at large.<\/p>\n
According to Judiciary spokesperson Mlenga Mvula, Chinemba was supposed to go on full trial from July 22 to 24 2015 but failed to show up on these three days.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Court sitting in Blantyre on July 22, 2015 wanted to hear in full the murder case of Mr Ali Kaka Chinemba who is accused of murdering Davie Kadzuwa Banda, unfortunately, he did not show up. The Judge asked his lawyer to trace his whereabouts but to no avail. This is where the Court revoked his bail conditions and issued an arrest warrant instantly,\u201d said Mvula.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe indeed received the arrest warrant from Blantyre High Court to re-arrest Ali Kaka but we are yet to arrest him. We are appealing to the public to relay any information concerning his whereabouts to Blantyre Police Station,\u201d said Mwale.<\/p>\n
Ironically, the granting of bail to Ali Kaka attracted condemnation from residents in Chimwankhunda who queried that other murder suspects get remanded awaiting trial.<\/p>\n
However, Mvula refused to dwell on the query, saying the matter is in court but was quick to mention that the Court followed all procedures in granting bail to Chinemba.<\/p>\n
\u201cEverybody remains innocent until proven guilty by a competent court basing on reasonable grounds. The people, who are questioning the legitimacy of the bail, are not conversant with court procedures,\u201d said Mvula.<\/p>\n
Chinemba allegedly shot Banda to death for blocking his way when he wanted to drive past the deceased\u2019s car in Chimwankhunda in Blantyre.<\/p>\n
