{"id":70660,"date":"2018-10-22T05:29:01","date_gmt":"2018-10-22T03:29:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=70660"},"modified":"2018-10-22T05:29:02","modified_gmt":"2018-10-22T03:29:02","slug":"big-bullets-extend-gap-to-four-points","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2018\/10\/22\/big-bullets-extend-gap-to-four-points\/","title":{"rendered":"Big Bullets extend gap to four points"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>By Mphatso Malidadi &amp; Isaac Salima: <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_70584\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-70584\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/haiya-pasuwa.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-70584\" src=\"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/haiya-pasuwa-300x134.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"134\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/haiya-pasuwa-300x134.jpg 300w, https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/haiya-pasuwa-768x342.jpg 768w, https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/haiya-pasuwa.jpg 820w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-70584\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">READY FOR THE TASK\u2014Pasuwa (right) with Haiya during the ceremony<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>New Nyasa Big Bullets Coach, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.times.mw\/kallisto-pasuwa-signs-short-term-deal\/\">Callisto Pasuwa<\/a>, started his job on an impressive note after guiding the People\u2019s Team to a 2-0 victory over Dwangwa United in a TNM Super League match at Kamuzu Stadium Monday.<\/p>\n<p>The result has widened Bullets\u2019 lead in the league which, going into the match, was at two points.<\/p>\n<p>The People\u2019s Team benefitted from Silver Strikers\u2019 barren draw against Moyale at Silver Stadium to extend the gap to four points.<\/p>\n<p>Bullets have 55 points from 23 games whereas second-placed Silver have 51 from 25 games.<\/p>\n<p>It was a relief for Bullets who have endured a poor run in recent games, the climax being when they were booted out of the Carlsberg Cup by Masters Security.<\/p>\n<p>When the league leaders struggled to defeat relegated Nchalo United in a Fisd Challenge Cup tie on Thursday, a section of Bullets fans demanded the return of fired coaches Rodgers Yasini and Elia Kananji.<\/p>\n<p>But, starting a new lease of life after taking over the mantle on Friday, Pasuwa deployed a 4-5-1 formation that suffocated the visitors in midfield and allowed the People\u2019s Team to attack at will.<\/p>\n<p>The Zimbabwean made some tactical changes with Chimango Kayira, Pilirani Zonda and Emmanuel Zoya making the starting line-up.<\/p>\n<p>Bullets went ahead in the 38th minute through Kayira after Dwangwa defenders failed to deal with Zoya\u2019s long throw-in and only succeeded in directing it to Kayira, whose powerful shot sailed beyond the outstretched arms of Dwangwa goalkeeper Charles Thom.<\/p>\n<p>Kayira was being overlooked in previous games but gave the new coach food for thought with his zonal positioning.<\/p>\n<p>Bullets started the second-half with urgency as Chiukepo Msowoya stretched their lead with a long drive that caught Thom napping.<\/p>\n<p>Both teams made changes at some stage of the match, with Bullets resting Ernest Petro for Patrick Phiri whereas injured Msowoya paved the way for Bright Munthali.<\/p>\n<p>Dwangwa pulled out Innocent Manganyera for Patrick Macheso but the damage had been done.<\/p>\n<p>Dwangwa assistant Coach, Ladwell Mbetewa, attributed the loss to fatigue.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cThe players were tired after featuring in a tough game on Saturday. We were second on the ball because of fatigue. The first goal was a giveaway that could have been avoided. Nevertheless, we have collected three points out of six, which is not bad,\u201d<\/em> Mbetewa said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Bullets strikers\u2019 trainer Heston Munthali said his charges could have scored more goals with improved precision.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cIt is good to win with such a margin but it [the result] could have been much better.
