The organisers will only pay for accommodation,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Joyah said they have applied for support from some companies but have not received any response.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cWe are keeping our fingers crossed since we only have today (yesterday) and tomorrow (today). Those who can help, the better,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Joyah\u2019s film has received nominations in the categories of Best Director, Best Film, Best Actress in a Leading Role, Achievement in Make-up, Sound, Cinematography and Soundtrack.<\/p>\n<p>His debut film <em>Seasons of a Life <\/em>also screened at Amaa in 2010 while his second film The <em>Last Fishing Boat <\/em>won the Best Soundtrack Award at Amaa 2013.<\/p>\n<p>The film will battle it out with several other movies in the categories it has been nominated.<\/p>\n<p>For instance, in the category of Best Actress in a Leading Role, Miriam Phiri, who starred in Joyah\u2019s movie for the first time, will battle it out with Kate Henshaw in Roti.<\/p>\n<p>In the category of Best Director, Joyah will compete with Frank Rajah Arase from Nigeria in the film <em>In My Country <\/em>among others.<\/p>\n<p>Joyce Mhango Chavula\u2019s <em>Nyasaland <\/em>has also been nominated in the category of Ousmane Sembene Best Film in an African Language.<\/p>\n<p>Actress and filmmaker Flora Suya has also been nominated for her film <em>My Mother\u2019s Story<\/em>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Sam Banda Jnr: After screening his award- winning film Road to Sunrise in Blantyre last month, where there were low turnouts, Shemu Joyah turns his attention to Africa Movie Academy Awards (Amaa) to be held in Kigali, Rwanda, this Saturday.
