When I came here, I met a girl carrying a bucket of water. She was tired and she stopped to rest along the road. I promised her that I would drill a borehole so as to help girls like her have water within their areas. This is part of my promise,\u201d<\/em> Kazembe said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>However, to improve access to water in Kanyenga, there is need for 10 more boreholes.<\/p>\n<p>Village Head Dickson, in whose area the borehole was drilled, hailed Kazembe for his intervention.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cI am happy that we will be able to get water for drinking. This is the best thing which people in this area have seen so far. We will never forget this day,\u201d<\/em> Dickson said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Residents of Kanyenga face serious water challenges, forcing them to draw drinking water from unprotected sources which are also patronised by wild animals.<\/p>\n<p>As a result, some learners mainly girls, drop out of school so as to help out their parents in fetching water.<\/p>\n<p>The area had one working borehole.
