{"id":70369,"date":"2018-10-15T09:37:25","date_gmt":"2018-10-15T07:37:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=70369"},"modified":"2018-10-15T09:37:26","modified_gmt":"2018-10-15T07:37:26","slug":"us-firm-eyes-local-market","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2018\/10\/15\/us-firm-eyes-local-market\/","title":{"rendered":"US firm eyes local market"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>By Chimwemwe Mangazi: <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/deliby-chimbalu.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-43949\" src=\"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/deliby-chimbalu-300x168.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"168\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/deliby-chimbalu-300x168.jpg 300w, https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/deliby-chimbalu.jpg 650w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>A United States (US)- based investment and management firm has engaged the Malawi Investment and Trade Centre (MITC) for bankable projects in the country where it has committed to invest over $100 million.<\/p>\n<p>In an interview, MITC Public Relations Manager, Deliby Chimbalu, confirmed that the centre has received the request from the firm.<\/p>\n<p>She said MITC is developing a dependable database of bankable projects to facilitate funding or equity partnership opportunities.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cIt is our hope that the private sector would take advantage of this opportunity and submit [to us] bankable project concepts for us to help them in identifying funding for implementation,\u201d<\/em> Chimbalu said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>She said following improvements in some key macroeconomic fundamentals, there has been growing investor confidence.<\/p>\n<p>Since 2014, MITC has been producing a compendium of investment projects as a way of marketing the country to potential investors.<\/p>\n<p>MITC has also been hosting the Malawi Investment Forum, a gathering of international and local investors, financiers and government officials among other key stakeholders to facilitated trade and business deals.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Chimwemwe Mangazi: A United States (US)- based investment and management firm has engaged the Malawi Investment and Trade Centre (MITC) for bankable projects in the country where it has committed to invest over $100 million.
