{"id":70259,"date":"2018-10-12T08:39:05","date_gmt":"2018-10-12T06:39:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=70259"},"modified":"2018-10-12T08:39:06","modified_gmt":"2018-10-12T06:39:06","slug":"parliament-summons-ministry-on-embassy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2018\/10\/12\/parliament-summons-ministry-on-embassy\/","title":{"rendered":"Parliament summons Ministry on embassy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>By Faith Kamtambe:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/major.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-26405\" src=\"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/major-300x162.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"162\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/major-300x162.jpg 300w, https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/major-610x332.jpg 610w, https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/major.jpg 614w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>International Relations Committee of Parliament has said it is disappointed that Ministry of Transport and Public Works\u2019 officials have, thrice, failed to appear before the committee when summoned over issues regarding Malawi\u2019s building at its embassy in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.<\/p>\n<p>Reports indicate that the building, which was built to the tune of K6 billion, is not in a usable state and requires rehabilitation at the cost of K187 million.<\/p>\n<p>The committee\u2019s chairperson, Alex Major, said Parliament has called again the ministry\u2019s officials on Tuesday so as to hear out issues regarding the matter.<\/p>\n<p>He, however, said this time it would be like a hearing as the ministry did not honour previous calls from the committee.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cOn Tuesday, we would like to hear from the PS on matters regarding the house in Addis Ababa.
