And it is called hangover.

But, in football terms, Southern Region Football Association Premier Division side Hangover United are feeling the effects of their name in full measure after they were thrashed 3-0 by Be Forward Wanderers in the last semi-final of the Carlsberg Cup at Kamuzu Stadium Sunday.

Their giant-killing run finally came to a crashing end as Wanderers scored through right-back Stanley Sanudi just five minutes into the match.

The Nomads continued to dominate thereafter and threatened to score more goals but Hangover frustrated them on several occasions.

The lower league side fought courageously to stop Wanderers’ marauding attackers from increasing the lead until half-time.

After resumption, Hangover came with other ideas as they threatened to snatch an equaliser but impressive Nomads’ goal-minder, Nenani Juwaya, was alert in goal to deny them.

Man-of-the-Match Rabson Richard was at the hub of Hangover’s best moves and kept the supply lines open from the left but there was no response from the striking force.

Sensing danger, Wanderers upped the tempo and deservedly stretched the lead through Joseph Kamwendo in the 25th minute before Zicco Mkanda put the game beyond Hangover’s reach 10 minutes later with the third goal.

Wanderers will now meet Masters Security in the final on October 20 at the same venue.

After the game, Hangover Coach Alfred Chikwanje blamed his charges for conceding cheap goals.

“We controlled the second half but we gifted them two goals.
