\"\"<\/a>Netball giants Tigresses have taken a swipe at Netball Association of Malawi (Nam) over incidents they deem amount to a plot within the local netball governing body to frustrate and annihilate the club.<\/p>\n

In a letter dated October 1 2018 which The Daily Times <\/em>has seen, Tigresses say there are well-documented issues, including the transfer saga involving Laureen Ngwira<\/a>, which have not been resolved.<\/p>\n

The stand-off might affect Tigresses players Beatrice Mpinganjira, Lauren Ngwira and Sindie Simtowe- Msowoya\u2019s availability in the forthcoming Malawi national netball team camp training<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Tigresses Team Manager, Helene Tasosa, says they do not want their players to go for an international tournament and get transferred to another club without consent.<\/p>\n

\u201cLauren Ngwira is a Tigresses player. As you recall, we never cleared her to play for Team Northumbria in the United Kingdom (UK). Nam unilaterally did that (against the provisions of your own constitution). As a matter of fact, the said Team Northumbria disbanded at the end of the UK season.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cThere no longer exists a franchise called Team Northumbria. In such circumstances, we wonder how Nam can call up Lauren Ngwira as a Team Northumbria player, deliberately ignoring the fact that she is (and has always been) contracted to Tigresses,\u201d<\/em> the letter reads in part.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Tigresses also call on Nam to resolve issues concerning their abandoned game against Diamonds. The game was abandoned on September 16 2018 due to Ngwira\u2019s club status.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe expect a resolution on this matter. As you can clearly see, Nam\u2019s handling of the Lauren Ngwira matter has a direct bearing on Tigresses\u2019 league matches.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cTigresses also question on [sic] why Nam is calling its players to the national team when the body and Blantyre and Districts Netball League are yet to clarify on the team\u2019s suspension from league games.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cWe have a problem with the fact that our players should be used only when it suits Nam while being abandoned at all other times as is the case now. We hasten to add that the manner in which Nam has handled (or indeed failed to handle) issues involving Tigresses leaves us with a strong feeling that there exists a plot within Nam to frustrate and ultimately annihilate Tigresses netball club. We shall, however, remain steadfast in our quest for justice and fairness within netball circles in Malawi,\u201d<\/em> the letter states.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Nam General Secretary, Carol Bapu, Tuesday confirmed receipt of the letter.<\/p>\n

\u201cOf course, I received the letter but Nam is an institution I, therefore, can\u2019t comment on my own without the input of fellow Executive Committee members,\u201d<\/em> she said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Nam cleared Ngwira to play for Team Northumbria without Tigresses\u2019 consent.<\/p>\n

The player has a running contract with Tigresses until next year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
