Congratulations my brother- Ndikuyamikira m\u2019 bale wanga.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Director of Sports in the Ministry of Labour, Youth, Sports and Manpower Development, Jameson Ndalama, said the government was proud of Nyamilandu\u2019s achievement.<\/p>\n<p>Ndalama said the election of Nyamilandu should inspire other sports administrators in the country to aim for various leadership roles in international organisations.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cWe are very happy with Mr Nyamilandu\u2019s achievement. This is a clear indication that the country has administrators who are good enough to represent us on the global stage.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cWe expect Mr Nyamilandu to promote Malawi\u2019s interests as he takes up this big post. There are many areas in our football that need support and we believe the game will benefit from this,\u201d<\/em> he said<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Super League of Malawi (Sulom) General Secretary, Williams Banda, also sent a message to Nyamilandu, describing his election as a positive development to local football.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cSulom would like to extend its sporty congratulations to Nyamilandu on his election as an executive. This is a positive development to Malawi football in particular and southern Africa in general,\u201d<\/em> the message reads.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The council is Fifa\u2019s main decision-making body comprising 37 members under the leadership of Gianni Infantino.<\/p>\n<p>By sitting in the Fifa Council, Malawi will become an active participant in the policy direction of the world football governing body.<\/p>\n<p>Nyamilandu won the race in a re-run after failing to get majority votes in the first round. The Malawian topped the round with 23 votes followed by Jordaan\u2019s 16 whereas former Tanzania FA president Leodegar Tenga came third with 14 votes.<\/p>\n<p>Nyamilandu has joined Caf president Ahmad, General Secretary Fatma Samoura, Tarek Bouchamaoui, Almamy Camara, Lydia Nsekera, Constant Omari and Hany Rida as Africa\u2019s faces on the Fifa Council.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Mabvuto Kambuwe: &lt;\/br&gt; Malawi government and world soccer governing body Fifa have congratulated Football Association of Malawi (Fam) President Walter Nyamilandu on his election to the Fifa Council.
