\"\"<\/a>The Lake of Stars Festival is finally here and the venue is Leopards Bay, Kabumba Hotel, in Salima District.<\/p>\n

This is a new venue that will give people a treat, enjoy different sounds, poetry and theatre, among others, while enjoying the fresh waters of Lake Malawi.<\/p>\n

The festival<\/a> returns to the stage after a one-year break and this year is even special for organisers as the festival is celebrating its 15th anniversary.<\/p>\n

With two stages \u2013 main and beach\u2014 the festival is set to feature close to 80 acts including Kenya\u2019s Sauti Sol and United States of America (USA) Major Lazer.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are ready, everything is in place, the venue is beautiful and it encompasses the beauty of Malawi in one spot. People should brace for amazing entertainment,\u201d<\/em> Lake of Stars Festival Country Coordinator, Yolanda Ng\u2019oma, said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The festival warmed up yesterday with a free-of-charge youth special Day of Ideas featuring Zathu Band and workshops.<\/p>\n

With the three-day advance tickets costing K37,000 and two-day pass K32,000, the festival opens today with performances from locals George Kalukusha, Drew Moyo, Positive Yut, Zimbabwean South Africa-based singer Berita, Germany\u2019s Makatumbe<\/a> and Scotland\u2019s Makatumbe.<\/p>\n

Saturday, the lineup has Sauti Sol, locals Fredokiss, Kim of Diamonds, Lusubilo Band, Zathu Band, Amahoro Drummers and Kobi Onyame.<\/p>\n

The last day, which is the climax, will see Major Lazer, Faith Mussa, Q Malewezi\u2019s Poetry Corner and Fikisa, among others, taking to the stage.<\/p>\n

Across the weekend, there will also be several others acts including Daughters Band, Madalitso Band, Queen Fyah, Tilinanu Choir, Tizah Titus, Lady Pace, Banou Azania,<\/p>\n

Viliipanganga Movement, Theo Thomson and Annemarie Quinn.<\/p>\n

Founder Will Jameson said he was impressed with the lineup this year and people will have more fun this weekend.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, MultiChoice Malawi has said Zambezi Magic will once again produce the 2018 Lake of Stars Arts Festival in a one-hour documentary set to be beamed later on DStv\u2019s Zambezi Magic channel.<\/p>\n

MultiChoice Malawi Sales and Marketing Manager, Chimwemwe Nyirenda, said the one-hour programme, which will have two presenters, will also feature Malawi Summer Fashion Designs by Mzuzu Fashion Week to be held next month.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will also have Malawi Tourism focusing on Lake Malawi\u2019s experience, Malawian artists\u2019 interviews and live performances, Malawian visual arts and headliners\u2019 interviews,\u201d<\/em> Nyirenda said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

He said the programme would also include international acts that are performing this year to give the programme an international feel.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe documentary will also showcase the audience appreciating the show, particularly Malawian culture, its food and other aspects of tourism,\u201d<\/em> Nyirenda said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Nyirenda said they were pleased that Malawi would feature on DStv.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe believe this is a part of our contribution to the development of tourism in the country. As you know, Zambezi Magic is present in Southern African Development Community countries. It is another way of promoting and exposing local talent on the international stage,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Nyirenda said they are also running Lake of Stars Arts Festival adverts on different DStv channels including Trace Naija , Africa Magic Hausa & Yoruba for West Africa, Sky News, History Channel, National Geographic, Mzansi Magic, M-Net Channels, SuperSport channels, West and East Africa specific channels.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe, as a business, have been in Malawi for over 21 years and we have grown together with Lake of Stars Arts Festival, who are now celebrating their 15th Anniversary,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
