The three children were taken on a motorbike. We believe that this development has happened due to intensive awareness meetings which the police, through community policing, has been conducting within the area,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The suspect, who has not been identified, bolted and is at large.<\/p>\n<p>In another development, Phalombe First Grade Magistrate court on Tuesday convicted Zinenani Bomani to five years imprisonment with hard labour for child trafficking, in line with Section 79 (1) of the Child Care Protection and Justice Act.<\/p>\n<p>Bomani was found guilty of trafficking an 11-year-old child of Makoko Village, T\/A Chikowi, in Zomba District to Mozambique to work in tobacco growing estates.<\/p>\n<p>This far, 13 children have been rescued from traffickers in the district from January to date while three cases are being handled by police.<\/p>\n<p>From January to December last year, 13 children were rescued and two people were convicted in two separate cases.<\/p>\n<p>Caleb Ng\u2019ombo of Malawi Network Against Trafficking in Persons said it is worrying that cases of trafficking are rampant in Malawi, especially in border districts.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cWe have to do something and find a solution to the problem of trafficking in humans,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Feston Malekezo: Police in Phalombe District have rescued three children who were being trafficked to Mozambique on Monday.
