{"id":68270,"date":"2018-07-11T08:40:23","date_gmt":"2018-07-11T06:40:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=68270"},"modified":"2018-07-11T08:40:23","modified_gmt":"2018-07-11T06:40:23","slug":"patrick-mabedi-out-of-kaizer-chiefs-job","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2018\/07\/11\/patrick-mabedi-out-of-kaizer-chiefs-job\/","title":{"rendered":"Patrick Mabedi out of Kaizer Chiefs\u2019 job"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>BY RONALD MPASO:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>South Africa\u2019s Premier Soccer League giants, Kaizer Chiefs, have ruled out the possibility of hiring former Flames skipper, Patrick Mabedi, as the club\u2019s head coach.<\/p>\n<p>Chiefs Football Manager, Bobby Motaung, told <em>Kick- Off.com <\/em>that there was no chance for Mabedi to occupy the hot seat as he believes the Malawian is not ready for such as challenge.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMabedi definitely will never be the head coach of Kaizer Chiefs. He is a caretaker coach. He has been an assistant; that is why we got him as an assistant. He has got quality; he is delivering as an assistant. But being a head coach is something else,\u201d Motaung told the website.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.times.mw\/kaizer-chiefs-hire-patrick-mabedi\/\">Mabedi has been Chiefs\u2019 acting coach<\/a> since the resignation of Steve Komphela in April after three years without silverware.<\/p>\n<p>He said Chiefs appreciate Mabedi\u2019s contribution to the team as a player and coach; hence, the club\u2019s commitment to continue supporting him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut Mabedi, so far, is under good structures. He has shown it under pressure in the last three games [of last season], not because he is the hero but because of the structures of the organisation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will support him all the way but coaching Chiefs is running a government. We must make sure we are sober and make the right decision,\u201d Motaung is quoted as saying.<\/p>\n<p>Mabedi is training the team in the pre-season and is expected to lead it on Saturday in the Maize Cup against Chippa United, Free State Stars and ABC Motsepe outfit Buya Msuthu.<\/p>\n<p>The Glamour Boys are also expected to play champions, Mamelodi Sundowns, a week later in another pre-season cup.<\/p>\n<p>Reports in the South African press are rife that Chiefs could re-unite with their former mentor, Stuart Baxter, who is coaching Bafana Bafana.<\/p>\n<p>Baxter\u2019s return would not be good news for Mabedi as the Englishman is understood to be in favour of working with the club\u2019s legend, Doctor Khumalo.<\/p>\n<p>But a former Chiefs and Bafana Bafana player, Patrick Mayo, sympathised with Mabedi, saying bringing in a new head coach will be a setback for the club.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMabedi will work hard in the pre-season and a new face might come and change all of the ideas and Mabedi will now look useless,\u201d Mayo told <em>Goal. com.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>BY RONALD MPASO: South Africa\u2019s Premier Soccer League giants, Kaizer Chiefs, have ruled out the possibility of hiring former Flames skipper, Patrick Mabedi, as the club\u2019s head coach.
