{"id":68122,"date":"2018-07-06T07:50:40","date_gmt":"2018-07-06T05:50:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=68122"},"modified":"2018-07-06T07:50:41","modified_gmt":"2018-07-06T05:50:41","slug":"under-17-race-against-time","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2018\/07\/06\/under-17-race-against-time\/","title":{"rendered":"Under-17 race against time"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>BY WILLIAMS GONDWA:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Malawi under-17 national football team faces a race against time to prepare for the Cosafa Youth Championship, which kicks off in Mauritius on July 19.<\/p>\n<p>The junior Flames have 13 days only to prepare for group C matches against Zimbabwe, Swaziland and Angola at the tournament which will run until July 29.<\/p>\n<p>Team Manager, Enos Chatama, yesterday said they have devised a training schedule to make up for the lost time.<\/p>\n<p>Chatama said they regrouped for training on Wednesday ahead of departure for Mauritius next weekend.<\/p>\n<p>He said they have selected 26 players for trials so as to identify a 20-member final squad.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe might be under pressure to drill these players but we have no choice. We need to soldie on. All the players we had last year graduated into the under-20 national team.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe could not ask for more time for preparations as Football Association of Malawi is also busy, taking care of the under-20 team which is also in camp.
