{"id":67786,"date":"2018-06-30T08:08:37","date_gmt":"2018-06-30T06:08:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=67786"},"modified":"2018-06-30T08:08:38","modified_gmt":"2018-06-30T06:08:38","slug":"mangochi-police-tips-pupils-on-violence","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2018\/06\/30\/mangochi-police-tips-pupils-on-violence\/","title":{"rendered":"Mangochi police tips pupils on violence"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>BY <strong>FRANCO PRAISE MWACHANDE, <\/strong>CITIZEN JOURNALIST:<\/p>\n<p>Mangochi Police Officer-in- Charge, George Chikhungu, has urged primary school pupils in the district to excel in their studies and to speak out whenever they encounter gender based violence in the course of their learning process.<\/p>\n<p>Chikhungu made his remarks at Nansato Primary School in the area of Traditional Authority Jalasi when he presented a suggestion box at the school, under an initiative called safe schools programme.<\/p>\n<p>He emphasised to the pupils the importance of focusing on education, adding that it can help mould them into responsible citizens.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s our aim to ensure that these learners are free from any kind of abuse and we thought of bringing this box because it\u2019s a confidential way of presenting their concerns and they will be expressing their feelings easily,&#8221; Chikhungu said.<\/p>\n<p>Deputy head teacher for the school, Joseph Dennis, hailed Mangochi Police for the initiative.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The learners have been motivated, inspired and trained.
