Silver Strikers and Brighton Munthali have contradicted each other on the duration of the youthful goalkeeper\u2019s contract.<\/p>\n
While the club insists that Munthali has a running contract until 2019, the player claimed that his contract will expire at the end of the month.<\/p>\n
Munthali, who joined Silver from Wizards in 2016, yesterday insisted that his contract will expire at the end of the month.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have heard rumours about my contract. Some people are speculating that I am refusing to sign a new deal. The truth is that my contract will expire at the end of the month. I do not want to say more but signing a new deal would depend on what they will offer me,\u201d Munthali said.<\/p>\n
Munthali, who manned the posts for the Flames at the Cosafa Cup in South Africa last month, conceding two goals in three games, is free to discuss with another team in line with Fifa transfer rules and regulations.<\/p>\n
The rules allow players to talk to other teams when into their last six months of a contract.<\/p>\n
However, Silver General Secretary, Thabo Chakaka- Nyirenda, insisted the player is contracted to them until 2019.<\/p>\n
\u201cPeople are speculating a lot that he is refusing to sign a contract extension. It is a blue lie,\u201d Nyirenda said.<\/p>\n
Munthali is probably the best goalkeeper on the domestic scene and was instrumental to Silver when they won the Airtel Top 8 cup last year. He was voted the best keeper for the competition.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
