{"id":67703,"date":"2018-06-29T08:50:42","date_gmt":"2018-06-29T06:50:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=67703"},"modified":"2018-06-29T08:50:43","modified_gmt":"2018-06-29T06:50:43","slug":"morocco-beatable","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2018\/06\/29\/morocco-beatable\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Morocco beatable\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>BY MPHATSO MALIDADI <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Some former Malawi national football team players have called for early preparations and a good game-plan to enable the Flames overcome Morocco in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifiers.<\/p>\n<p>Under the guidance of highly-rated mentor, Herve Renard, Morocco drew two-all with former European champions, Spain and lost to Iran and Portugal by 0-1 margins at the on-going World Cup finals in Russia.<\/p>\n<p>However, some former Flames players feel that the senior side can rise to the occasion if wellprepared.<\/p>\n<p>Former Flames defender and team manager, Clement Kafwafwa, observed that Morocco were weak in defence.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe just need to capitalise on their weakness. At left-back, the defender was slow to react [at the World Cup] and one of their centre-backs is a bit short and unstable. We need to exploit these areas if we are to do well. We can achieve this if we start our preparations early,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Another ex-Malawi player, Sherry Msuku, who coaches Be Forward Wanderers Under-20 side, said Malawi should not be intimidated by Morocco\u2019s experience.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have noticed that they have tall and strong players. Malawi usually plays high balls when feeding strikers. So, we need to find a way to supply balls upfront to frustrate tall players.
