{"id":67668,"date":"2018-06-28T10:15:09","date_gmt":"2018-06-28T08:15:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=67668"},"modified":"2018-06-28T10:15:10","modified_gmt":"2018-06-28T08:15:10","slug":"grace-mugabe-blamed-for-blast","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2018\/06\/28\/grace-mugabe-blamed-for-blast\/","title":{"rendered":"Grace Mugabe blamed for blast"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Zimbabwe\u2019s President Emmerson Mnangagwa has said he suspects a group linked to the former first lady was behind an attempt on his life.<\/p>\n<p>Two people died and more than 40 were hurt in an explosion near Mr Mnangagwa at a rally in Bulawayo on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Mnangagwa told the BBC\u2019s Fergal Keane that he suspected the G40 group, which supported Grace Mugabe for the presidency, had carried out the attack.<\/p>\n<p>Mrs Mugabe\u2019s husband, Robert Mugabe, was forced from power last year.<\/p>\n<p>The army intervened to oppose Mrs Mugabe\u2019s attempt to succeed her husband as the country\u2019s leader, and the ruling Zanu-PF party then sacked Mr Mugabe, replacing him with Mr Mnangagwa.<\/p>\n<p>An exiled member of the G40 group, former government minister Jonathan Moyo, earlier tweeted that the blast \u201csmacks of an inside job\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Mnangagwa did not accuse Mrs Mugabe of being involved in the attempt on his life.<\/p>\n<p>He told the BBC he expects arrests to be made shortly.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t know whether it was one individual &#8211; I would think it is broader than one person.
