{"id":67635,"date":"2018-06-28T08:40:37","date_gmt":"2018-06-28T06:40:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=67635"},"modified":"2018-06-28T08:40:37","modified_gmt":"2018-06-28T06:40:37","slug":"blacks-to-fly-for-lilongwe-launch","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2018\/06\/28\/blacks-to-fly-for-lilongwe-launch\/","title":{"rendered":"Blacks to fly for Lilongwe launch"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>BY SAM BANDA JNR:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Reggae group Black Missionaries will fly with Malawian Airlines to Lilongwe on Saturday ahead of the launch of their <em>Kuimba 11 <\/em>album at Lilongwe Golf Club on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>The long-awaited album will be launched this weekend starting with Robins Park in Blantyre tomorrow and then Lilongwe Golf Club on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>Team Entertainers, led by Tonderai Banda, is organising the launch.<\/p>\n<p>Tonderai said Wednesday they thought of flying the band to Lilongwe to make sure that they have ample time for final preparations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTeam Entertainers has bought tickets for the band. They fly a day before because we want them to relax and do sound checks early on Sunday,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He said the two launches in Blantyre and Lilongwe will be historical as that they have invested alot in preparations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeople should expect something different from our other events. As Team Entertainers, we focus much on bringing something new to the people all the time in addition to being creative,\u201d Tonderai said.<\/p>\n<p>He also said that they would be using Malawian Airlines to promote the Buy Malawi initiative.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s not just about hyping up the show but we want people to know that we are serious about the two launches,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Blacks\u2019 lead vocalist Anjiru Fumulani said that they were happy to be launching <em>Kuimba 11 <\/em>and also hailed Team Entertainers for the support.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTeam Entertainers has always been there for us and other musicians. We have been having massive rehearsals and I should say it here that we are ready,\u201d Anjiru said.<\/p>\n<p>Black Missionaries also released two music videos \u2013 \u2018Special Lover\u2019, and \u2018Gombe La Nyanja\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>The two songs are part of the latest album.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Special Lover\u2019, was part of the four promotional songs which were released on April 20 2018 alongside \u2018Zofuna Mtima Wanga\u2019, \u2018Umboni,\u2019 and \u2018Mbusa\u2019.<\/p>\n<p><em>Kuimba 11 <\/em>will also be launched at Squirrels Park in Mzuzu on July 28.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have three main shows that will mark the launch of <em>Kuimba 11 <\/em>but then we will also hold other shows in different places so that everyone enjoys the album,\u201d Anjiru said.<\/p>\n<p>Black Missionaries has received criticism from some quarters since they released four promotional songs with others saying the songs were sub-standard.<\/p>\n<p>But while welcoming constructive criticism, Anjiru said they are hopeful the album will do well.<\/p>\n<p>He said the album carries the message of love, peace and harmony giving hope to mankind.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>BY SAM BANDA JNR: Reggae group Black Missionaries will fly with Malawian Airlines to Lilongwe on Saturday ahead of the launch of their Kuimba 11 album at Lilongwe Golf Club on Sunday.
