{"id":67507,"date":"2018-06-26T06:21:13","date_gmt":"2018-06-26T04:21:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=67507"},"modified":"2018-06-26T06:21:13","modified_gmt":"2018-06-26T04:21:13","slug":"giants-clash-at-cool-pro","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2018\/06\/26\/giants-clash-at-cool-pro\/","title":{"rendered":"Giants clash at Cool Pro"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>BY JARSON MALOWA,<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>A CONTRIBUTOR<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Cool Pro International Club\u2019s second show since its opening in Zomba district saw a clash of the giants and produced a number of developments in the entertainment industry.<\/p>\n<p>All roads in the district led to the club on Friday and the setting was Namwera Turn- Off at Malosa. There, \u2018Soldier Lucius Banda met the Black Missionaries who had, in tow, Anthony Makondetsa.<\/p>\n<p>The show was attended by more women than men.<\/p>\n<p>It was quite difficult to trace a partner once lost in the crowd, fulfilling club owner, Duffy Chikakuda\u2019s dream of turning the place into a sea where people drown in the waters of entertainment.<\/p>\n<p>Sam Smak opened proceedings on the cold night.<\/p>\n<p>He dished, among other tracks, \u2018<em>Ndimasilira\u2019 <\/em>during his one hour performance, attracting patrons to the dance floor.<\/p>\n<p>Nepman stepped in Sam Smak\u2019s footsteps, performing up to 15 songs that included \u2018Na Lero\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Soldier\u2019 jumped onto the stage at exactly 11:30pm, starting off with <em>\u2018Nthawi\u2019<\/em>, as if he meant to invite anyone who was outside the club premises to get inside.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHello Zomba!!! Are we in Zomba or Machinga?\u201d Banda asked and the crowd replied: \u201cZomba!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is where I was born. I was born at Malosa Hospital. Let me tell you that I am very proud to perform in a place where I was born,\u201d he told the fans before performing <em>\u2018Pharaoh\u2019<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Banda\u2019s one hour-36 minutes saw him display <em>\u2018Kuyenda Ngati Ngumbi\u2019 <\/em>track, which is from his new album, <em>Crimes<\/em>, twice.<\/p>\n<p>Before concluding Friday\u2019s task, Banda announced that the Sand Music Festival will, this year, be graced by two artists from Jamaica and DJs from Zimbabwe.<\/p>\n<p>The festival is in October at Livingstonia Beach in Salima.<\/p>\n<p>When his turn came, Makondetsa opened his one-hour-16 minutes performance with \u2018<em>Muyuda\u2019<\/em>, going on to perform <em>\u2018Mbumba ya Abraham<\/em>\u2019, \u2018<em>Usandiweruze\u2019<\/em>, among others.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLadies and gentlemen, please be informed that I, Mr Cool, have finished recording my new 2018 release which will be unveiled soon and its title track is <em>Ndagwira Mbendera<\/em>,\u201d he told the fans.<\/p>\n<p>Then it was the time for the prelaunch of the Black Missionaries <em>Kuimba 11 <\/em>album. Lead vocalist Anjiru got to the stage with \u2018Akanadziwa\u2019 before performing four tracks from a promo CD.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will launch <em>Kuimba 11 <\/em>album at Robins Park in Blantyre next week and, later, we will go to the capital, where we will host a show at Lilongwe Golf Club,\u201d Anjiru said.<\/p>\n<p>The show was powered by Zomba-based DJ Moda, who provided equipment.
