Mafco FC team manager, David Gulaimfa, says they are not comfortable to play Big Bullets at Civo Stadium in this Sunday\u2019s Carlsberg Cup quarter-final.<\/p>\n
Gulaimfa claimed that they were made to believe that the game would be played at the soldiers\u2019 Chitowe Stadium backyard.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe use Chitowe stadium where we are always comfortable to play. If they said our next fixture will be at home, why shift the game to Civo,\u201d wondered Gulaimfa.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen playing teams like Bullets in Lilongwe or Blantyre you can\u2019t expect good officiation because these teams have huge following that mostly exert unnecessary pressure on the referees. So, this is not good for football because it is like those deciding on fixtures want other teams to progress.\u201d<\/p>\n
The team manager said nevertheless, the team was geared up for the match.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have told the players to concentrate on the game. There is always a formal way of handling cases of this nature, so we will complain to the organizers of this cup,\u201d Gulaimfa added.<\/p>\n
Football Association of Malawi\u2019s (Fam) Competitions\u2019 Manager, Gomezani Zakazaka, said rules of Carlsberg Cup empowers the committee running the competition to select venues.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen conducting draws it doesn\u2019t necessarily mean that a team which will be at home will use its home ground, but it is only a home team in the fixture. So, the home team only enjoys benefits as hosts of the game,\u201d said Zakazaka.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
