National Bank of Malawi (NBM) pcl last week awarded four students at the Lilongwe University of Agricultures and Natural Resources (Luanar) Bunda campus for exceptional performance.<\/p>\n
The bank awarded the students with cash amounting K362, 500 each and also pledged to buy computers worth K4.5 million to help the students in their studies.<\/p>\n
The students include Lonjezo Folias, currently pursuing a Bachelor of Sciences in Agricultural and Applied Economics, Leonard Kumwenda who studying for a Bachelor of Science in Irrigation Engineering, Kingdom Simfukwe, pursuing Bachelor of Science in Aquaculture and Fisheries Science and Romeo Fabiano doing a Bachelor of Science in Gender and Development.<\/p>\n
NBM Chief Executive Officer, Macfussy Kawawa, said NBM takes pride in the awards because as it believes in youth development.<\/p>\n
\u201cThese youths have a very important role to play in the socio-economic development of this country. I therefore trust that these awards would spur you [the students] towards greater achievements. Our message to you is: keep challenging yourself and have a sense of pride in your achievements,\u201d Kawawa said.<\/p>\n
Professor Jeremiah Kang\u2019ombe of Luanar thanked the bank for the students\u2019 awards.<\/p>\n
He said bank\u2019s recognition of the best students is testimony of the quality of graduates that Luanar produces and it also symbolises the Bank\u2019s appreciation that university education is a critical component of human development worldwide.<\/p>\n
