We see football from a distance and provide suggestions to the committee. We noted recently that the technical panel had problems in their decision making.

“For example, yesterday [Saturday] the coach insisted on using Khumbo Ng’ambi as the lone striker yet it was evident that he struggled. It was too late when they brought in Zicco [Mkanda] and he scored. We told them to bring another coach on board but they just promoted Bob [Mpinganjira] and maintained the same panel. So, it is like they do not recognise us,” Mponda said.

However, Wanderers Chairperson, Gift Mkandawire, downplayed the issue, saying the team does not have resources to hire another coach.

“All along, we have been working together and I am surprised with the remarks that there is no coordination. If, at all, there is no coordination as they put it, then they should ask themselves why? What is wrong with their committee that there should be no coordination? Otherwise, from what I know, we talk and advise each other accordingly,” Mkandawire said.

Former Nomads and Flames star, Peterkins Kayira, said the disagreements between the two parties would impact negatively on the team’s performance.

“The problem at Wanderers is not the technical panel; it is a psychological problem. The Executive and Supporters committees are disorganised. It is only in Malawi where supporters interfere in technical issues. The other problem is that the Executive Committee leaks whatever they discuss internally. It is also high time the Executive Committee learnt to use the team’s legends. Bring the legends together to offer advice to the technical team,” Kayira said.

This season, the Nomads have managed two wins and two draws in the league while also losing twice.

Wanderers Technical Director, Yasin Osman, on Sunday insisted that the team is going through a normal bad patch and that it would get over it.

Be Forward Wanderers Supporters’ Committee General Secretary, Sam Mponda, has claimed that the team’s poor performance is due to lack of coordination between the fans and the Executive Committee.
