Expatriate lawn tennis coach Amon Udo from the Netherlands has accused the Mzuzu Golf Club (MGC) officials of confiscating his equipment and ordering him to leave the facility in the middle of a coaching session on Saturday.<\/p>\n
While confirming that his organisation removed a net and a ball, MGC secretary Tichitechi Mfinda denied chasing the Dutch man and the children he was drilling.<\/p>\n
Udo told The Daily Times <\/em>in an interview last Sunday that he does not know what went wrong up to now because neither the MGC officials nor the Saved By the Ball an organization he serves, explained to him about their rift.<\/p>\n \u201cI felt embarrassed when I insisted to play as MGC grabbed the net and the balls. I am a visitor and they should have dealt with SBB,\u201d Udo complained.<\/p>\n \u201cI spent over 4000 Euros (K2, 216, 000) on travel expenses and accommodation to enhance the sport in Malawi and turn kids into better characters through tennis, but this is shocking.\u201d<\/p>\n Khaya Volunteers, experts in sports from South Africa, are in partnership with SBB and they sent volunteer Udo to in Mzuzu.<\/p>\n Mfinda blamed SBB of being behind the mess, saying the organisation was told to sort out contractual issues with the facility, but kept defying the orders through the illegal use of the court.<\/p>\n Mfinda said MGC does not recognize SBB, but Mzuzu Tennis Association which has a binding contract with them on court use.<\/p>\n In the contract, MGC wants SBB to be paying a fee when using the facility.<\/p>\n \u201cSBB play funded tournaments and we want a share of what they get for the renovation of the court, so that both parties are happy,\u201d said Mfinda.<\/p>\n SBB director Owen Mfune said they delayed to sort out the matter because currently they have no money since they too work as volunteers.<\/p>\n The conflict has affected Morocco-bound kid Lamesh Banda who Udo was training ahead of his Africa Junior championship.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Expatriate lawn tennis coach Amon Udo from the Netherlands has accused the Mzuzu Golf Club (MGC) officials of confiscating his equipment and ordering him to leave the facility in the middle of a coaching session on Saturday.
