Mulanje Mountain Conservation Trust (MMCT) has received a timely boost after intergrated mobile network and ICT service provider, TNM, took over this year\u2019s Porters Race as the main sponsor.<\/p>\n
Porters Race is an extreme outdoor sport that takes runners to the summit of Mulanje Mountain, one of southern Africa\u2019s highest mountains at about 3000m above sea level.<\/p>\n
TNM Chief Sales and Marketing Officer, Daniel Makata, said as part of the partnership with MMCT, the company has contributed K8.6 million towards the organisation of the event scheduled for July 14.<\/p>\n
Makata stated that TNM is a patriotic promoter of sports and tourism sectors and said the race is in line with the company\u2019s commitment to developing a wide range of sporting disciplines as well as promoting Malawi\u2019s tourism industry.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs a Malawian brand, we are committed to the development of sports in the country. Besides being the long-term sponsor of the TNM Super League, we have also sponsored golf, cricket and triathlon.<\/p>\n
\u201cOne of the main objectives of the race is to promote conservation of Mulanje Mountain and our sponsorship is in line with the spirit of conserving nature and the environment to help spur tourism development in the country,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Makata said the company is proud to be associated with the event, which takes place in Mulanje where TNM has full 4G network coverage.<\/p>\n
Mount Mulanje Porters Race Coordinator, Kondwani Chamwala, said organisers are very grateful to TNM for committing to help with the organisation of the event for the second year running.<\/p>\n
