As for Achithekele we will look at other dates,” Mabedi said.

The group, has also taken time without holding performances in the Northern Region.

“As a group we would want to reach out to all the areas in the country but we have failed to do so due to other challenges but we are targeting performing in Mzuzu in July if all goes according to plan,” he said.

Mabedi said Umboni Wamwana is a play that is focusing on men, who abandon their responsibilities when they impregnate women out of wedlock.

“There are a lot of men out there who refuse to take responsibility whenever they impregnate a woman outside marriage only to reappear later to claim fatherhood of the child,” he said.

He said as a group, their focus has been to tackle real life stories that the society is experiencing and bring about solutions and it is the same with Achithekele, written by Charles Mphoka, which tackles the issue of child and arranged marriages.

Mabedi also hailed Kalindo better known as Winiko for coming up with a play adding that they would want more members in the group to come up with productions as part of giving their fans different tastes.

For a long time, Mabedi and Mphoka have been at the helm writing plays for the group.

But some quarters have suggested that Kwathu should have a variety of plays coming from different writers to avoid having similar stories and presentation.

Umboni Wamwana has a cast of 10 and some of the actors starring in the play include Kalindo, Mphoka, Moses Mandebvu, Linda Chatha, Mwandipa Chimaliro, Enifa Chiwaya and Ferguson Magona.

“We would also like to thank MultiChoice Malawi for their support always. We just want to call upon people to come in large numbers in Lilongwe and, with the 2018 World Cup in Russia, it will also give people a chance to buy decoders which will be on sale,” Mabedi said.

After successfully premiering their second 2018 production Achithekele at Gymkhana Club in Zomba and Blantyre Cultural Centre last weekend, Kwathu Drama Group makes another move this Sunday when they invade Lilongwe Town Hall with Umboni Wamwana.
