Sulumani Chimbetu, son to music icon Simon Chimbetu, intends to retrace his Malawian roots as well as launch a career here.<\/p>\n
Sulumani has since hinted that he is in the process of translating some of his songs done in Shona into Chichewa.<\/p>\n
The musician also plans to hold some gigs in the country.<\/p>\n
Entertainment Republic, a music and arts promotions company which is handling Sulumani\u2019s affairs, has confirmed development.<\/p>\n
Max Mugaba of Entertainment Republic said Sulumani has decided to take an extraordinary step and take his music to the country of his forefathers.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe is currently working on translating the songs he did in Shona into Chichewa in readiness for the Malawian market,\u201d Mugaba said.<\/p>\n
He said in cementing this move, Entertainment Republic is working on an introductory gig where Sulumani will play with his full band.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis development will mark the start of a permanent feature of gigs in Malawi and this will surely start later this year,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Mugaba, said after the death of his father in 2005, Sulumani left the air force of Zimbabwe where he was working to pursue a professional music career.<\/p>\n
With the departure of his uncle from The Orchestra Dendera Kings lineup, according to Mugaba, Sulumani took control of the band.<\/p>\n
He then launched a fully-fledged solo career with a debut album in 2007 Ndomusiya Nani<\/em>.<\/p>\n \u201cThis was the start of a journey to stardom in music for him and he embarked on a tour to support his work both locally and abroad and the apex of his career came when he launched his fourth album Syllabus<\/em>,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n Syllabus <\/em>is an album which was released in 2012 and has a song \u2018Sean Timba\u2019 featuring Jah Prayzah.<\/p>\n Since releasing Syllabus<\/em>, Sulumani has released two more albums.<\/p>\n Mugaba said Sulumani has kept himself alive with sungura music which, he indicated, holds a special place in the Zimbabwean entertainment space.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Sulumani Chimbetu, son to music icon Simon Chimbetu, intends to retrace his Malawian roots as well as launch a career here.
