Activist Michael Usi, who is canvassing for votes through his Odya Zake Alibe Mulandu Network, has warned incumbent President Peter Mutharika to prepare for a tough exist during next year\u2019s presidential election.<\/p>\n
Usi made the remarks in Mangochi District on Sunday when he met traditional leaders and network\u2019s coordinators in Mangochi.<\/p>\n
After meeting the coordinators and traditional leaders at Kuiputi Primary School, Traditional Authority Jalasi, Usi said Malawians are no longer interested in voting for leaders who have nothing to offer.<\/p>\n
\u201cPeople want to change things. They want to have power [supply] in their homes,\u201d Usi said.<\/p>\n
In Mangochi, Usi met over 34 group village heads from the areas of senior chiefs Jalasi and Bwananyambi before meeting the team that is supervising the campaign in the district.<\/p>\n
Just like in previous meetings in Machinga and Zomba districts, traditional leaders asked Usi to partner a person who is youthful and not corrupt.<\/p>\n
On his part, Usi said chiefs have a key role to play in national development.<\/p>\n
He further asked people to stop following politicians who are giving them handouts, describing the practice as a form of corruption.<\/p>\n
