{"id":66289,"date":"2018-06-05T02:43:08","date_gmt":"2018-06-05T00:43:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=66289"},"modified":"2018-06-05T02:43:09","modified_gmt":"2018-06-05T00:43:09","slug":"anisha-bashir-vies-for-vacant-commonwealth-title","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2018\/06\/05\/anisha-bashir-vies-for-vacant-commonwealth-title\/","title":{"rendered":"Anisha Bashir vies for vacant Commonwealth title"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>African Boxing Union (ABU) super featherweight champion, Anisha Bashir, will face Samantha \u2018SJ\u2019 Smith for the vacant Commonwealth (British Empire) Female lightweight title in London, the United Kingdom, on June 15.<\/p>\n<p>News of the fight emerged early last month but it was not clear if the bout would be for a title or not.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Anisha\u2019s management stable, No Pain No Gain Boxing Promotions, has disclosed that tickets for the bout have sold out.<\/p>\n<p>The stable\u2019s Chief Executive Officer, Craig Rousseau, said they would hold a press briefing immediately before departure to outline their plans for the fight.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPreparations are on track and we are planning to hold a press briefing soon to answer all questions regarding our preparations and prospects,\u201d Rousseau said.<\/p>\n<p>Anisha, 20, has seven wins [all knockouts] and five defeats whereas Smith, 38, has eight wins, including eight knockouts, and one defeat.<\/p>\n<p>Smith tasted her only defeat in 2015 when she lost on points to Christina Linardatou but, since then, she has won three fights\u2014 the most recent being her unanimous decision victory over Sylwia Maksym on March 2.<\/p>\n<p>According to boxrec. com, Smith made her debut at age 35 when she knocked out Jekaterina Lecko in the first round in 2015.
