{"id":66279,"date":"2018-06-05T01:29:56","date_gmt":"2018-06-04T23:29:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=66279"},"modified":"2018-06-05T01:29:57","modified_gmt":"2018-06-04T23:29:57","slug":"brenda-chombo-proves-her-mettle","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2018\/06\/05\/brenda-chombo-proves-her-mettle\/","title":{"rendered":"Brenda Chombo proves her mettle"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Gospel singer Brenda Chombo Banda returned to the stage on Saturday when she launched her fifth album <em>Favour <\/em>at Sunbird Mount Soche Hotel in Blantyre.<\/p>\n<p>Despite being out of the limelight for a long time, Brenda, who donned a beautiful dinner dress, showed that she put extra efforts in preparations to give out her best on the night.<\/p>\n<p>The singer gave the audience a good worship experience, offering several renditions from Favour backed by Impact Sounds Band. The outfit had, among others, Gresham Mokwena on keyboard, Collen Ali on lead guitar, Ephraim Chambota on bass and Macdonald Muwawa on drums.<\/p>\n<p>She controlled proceedings well on stage, starting off with two praise and worship songs before CD auctioning.<\/p>\n<p>The CD fetched a lot of money during auction, with some people coughing as much as K300,000 to get a CD.<\/p>\n<p>Before Brenda took to the stage, people enjoyed dinner.<\/p>\n<p>Before she took to the stage, there were warm-up performances from Eliza Mponya and Patience Namadingo, who leaves the country on June 11 for a tour of Europe.<\/p>\n<p>Zambian artist Asante Mkhukupa also performed at the show, which went all the way to midnight.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am happy with the support I have received tonight. I didn\u2019t anticipate such an audience. I just want to say thank you for honouring me. From here, I want to do more shows across the country but that will require funds. As such, it\u2019s my appeal to well-wishers to assist me,\u201d Brenda said.<\/p>\n<p>The gospel musician said she is supporting some students in their studies and that, apart from launching the album, the concert was also part of raising funds for that cause.<\/p>\n<p>She said she has maintained her style in the fifth album.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am happy that all my albums did well on the market. What I have done, in this album, is to integrate worship songs,\u201d Brenda said.<\/p>\n<p>She also said Favour has a variety of tastes because she worked with three engineers.<\/p>\n<p>Brenda also said she has managed to work on music videos for some of the songs.<\/p>\n<p>Favour is a 12-track album and some of the songs are \u2018Kulandira\u2019, \u2018Faithful\u2019, \u2018Mundilengere Mtima\u2019, \u2018Heal Me Oh Lord\u2019 and \u2018Inenso ndi Munthu\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>In the song, \u2018Inenso ndi Munthu\u2019, which she did not perform, Brenda has added her voice to calls that people should respect the rights of people with albinism.<\/p>\n<p>Brenda\u2019s previous albums are <em>Shalom, Moriah, Sankha Yesu <\/em>and <em>Come Worship.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Gospel singer Brenda Chombo Banda returned to the stage on Saturday when she launched her fifth album Favour at Sunbird Mount Soche Hotel in Blantyre.
