In a case of charity begins at home, Super League struggling giants, Silver Strikers, have beefed up with three starlets from the reserve side that plays in Division One of the Central Region Football Association.<\/p>\n
The reserve team\u2019s assistant coach, Patrick Mangani, said the young talent had not gone without notice among the club\u2019s hierarchy.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe club\u2019s officials attended the Bullets match and they had an opportunity to scout talent in the team. They have seen for themselves the talent that is in the reserve side. We have a good crop of players,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Mangani added that three players have been promoted to the senior team.<\/p>\n
\u201cTwo days before the Bullets match, we had already shortlisted some of the players and they have signed contracts to join the senior side in the second round of the Super League.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mangani said the players that have been promoted to the senior side were Vincent Weruzani, Henry Kanyama and Kondwani Chirwa.<\/p>\n
\u201c I advi s e them t o continue working and believe in their abilities. They can make it. They have good potential,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Both Silver coach Stain Chirwa and the club\u2019s general secretary Fred Kalonga were not available for immediate comment yesterday.<\/p>\n
Silver Reserve put up a good display in Sunday\u2019s 3-0 defeat to Big Bullets in round 16 of the Carlsberg Cup at the Kamuzu Stadium.<\/p>\n
A poor defensive display was the only stain in Silver Reserve\u2019s stellar performance that was a good advert for their talented young stars that showed good technical skills and composure with the ball.<\/p>\n
