Officers from justice delivery system institutions are undergoing six-day training with the aim of improving institutional capacities and coordination mechanisms of oversight institutions under \u2018Chilungamo\u2019 Programme.<\/p>\n
The African Institute for Capacity Development (AICD) Country Director, Anna Sanga, said the first phase of the two-cohort training started Wednesday and ends Thursday while the second phase will take place from June 5 to 7 at Crossroads Hotel in Lilongwe.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe want the Legal Aid Bureau (LAB) and other legal and justice-providing institutions to effectively discharge their mandate by helping employees to minimise [cases of] immoral behaviour that can compromise LAB performance, reputation and credibility.<\/p>\n
\u201cAreas of interest are good governance, sustainable agriculture and secondary education plus vocational training. The jointly developed National Indicative Programme, which rolled out in 2014, concludes by 2020,\u201d Sanga said.<\/p>\n
She added that Chilungamo Programme is committed to realising its aims by sticking to professionalism, ethics and integrity.<\/p>\n
The objective of the programme is to contribute to dignified life in Malawi through the enforcement of accountability in government, informed democratic choice and effective delivery of justice, according to Sanga.<\/p>\n
The AICD tailor-made training course for Lilongwe LAB will have participants from institutions such as Office of the Ombudsman, Malawi Human Rights Commission, Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, Police and Malawi Prison Services, Malawi Electoral Commission and National Registration Bureau.<\/p>\n
