The country\u2019s South Africa-based singer Zani Challe, who was voted Best Female Artist during the 2018 Nyasa Music Awards , will in July perform at the African Music Industry (Ami) Afrika People\u2019s Viewers Choice Awards to be held in Kinshasa, the Democratic Republic of Congo.<\/p>\n
The event was initially slated for Kampala, Uganda, in March but was postponed.<\/p>\n
Apart from performing at the awards and flying the country\u2019s flag, Zani is among the top five nominees in the category of Best Female Newcomer with her song \u2018Chikondi Chako\u2019.<\/p>\n
The singer, who has just released a new song \u2018Chule\u2019, which features Zimbabwe\u2019s star Buffalo Souljah, Tuesday, said she was happy to be among top five nominees.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis event was postponed but I have just seen through their platform that it is on in Kinshasa. So I will perform in July.<\/p>\n
\u201cVoting for the awards closed but I would like to thank people for giving me support when I called for their votes. To make it among the top five nominees is not that easy and I am praying for a win,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
She will perform at the awards on July 28.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe support people have given me has motivated me to do more,\u201d Zani said.<\/p>\n
The singer\u2014 who made headlines after releasing \u2018Single Tonight\u2019 featuring Nigerian reggae-dancehall artist Patoranking\u2014 said early this month that she would collaborate with more artists in the country.<\/p>\n
She also said that her sound is leaning towards dancehall.<\/p>\n
\u201cI feel like, in dancehall, I have found a path for myself but, again, I love afro beat and I still got R&B influence in my sound of singing but dancehall has been my need,\u201d Zani said.<\/p>\n
Recently, Zani also got a nomination in the African Muzik Magazine Awards.<\/p>\n
Coincidentally, she was also nominated in the category of Bes t Newcomer.<\/p>\n
However, she missed out on the award.<\/p>\n
