Reggae group Black Missionaries maintained on Sunday that they were optimistic their Kuimba 11 <\/em>album set to be launched next month will be a success.<\/p>\n

Blacks have received criticism from some quarters since they dropped four tracks off Kuimba 11 <\/em>namely \u2018Zofuna Mtima Wanga\u2019, \u2018Umboni\u2019 , \u2018Special Lover \u2019 and \u2018M\u2019busa\u2019, saying the songs are not worth the take.<\/p>\n

But the group\u2019s lead vocalist, Anjiru Fumulani, said after their performance at Village House in Blantyre that they were happy with the overwhelming response they received.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo far so good for us, the response we have received from people is encouraging. Of course there are a few who have their own take on the songs, but for us this is what we have done and we are happy,\u201d Anjiru said.<\/p>\n

He maintained that they were not against constructive criticism but observed that there are some people who criticise for the sake for it.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith Kuimba 10 it was the same, some people went out very fast to criticise us without taking their time to listen to the songs. But the very same people who were critising us embraced the songs later on. There are good songs in this album and mature message, where we are exalting God,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Anjiru said people should to be on alert as \u201cwe are living in difficult times\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe message we have in the album is relevant to the present day and so this is why we are saying people should take their time and listen to the message,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

During the show at Village House, which went all the way to midnight and attracted a good audience, the group performed all the four promotional songs apart from tracks from previous Kuimba <\/em>albums.<\/p>\n

The songs had to be played several times as people demanded replays.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo me I have no problems with the songs; I have actually enjoyed them live today. I think we need to give the songs time and actually judge better when the album is out,\u201d a reggae fan, Arnold Tembo, said.<\/p>\n

Another fan, Esther Phiri, also said the songs were good.<\/p>\n

Anjiru has since hinted that they will also be giving people another surprise before the launch of the album next month.<\/p>\n

There was also a moment when former drummer, Paul Chokani, who is now with Wailing Brothers alongside his brother Takudziwani, came on stage to play drums in two songs.<\/p>\n

Before their exploits at Village House, Black Missionaries also had performances over the weekend in Balaka and Chikwawa.<\/p>\n

In Chikwawa, the group performed at Divaz Lodge in Nchalo where keyboardist Chizondi Fumulani said Kuimba 11 <\/em>is just a continuation of their mission to spread the good news from God.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis album is just a continuation of the mission left by founder Evison Matafale, the mission of peace, love and harmony, the mission given to us by God himself,\u201d Chizondi said.<\/p>\n

The show heat up at midnight when Anthony Makondesa invaded the stage and dished several songs, among them, \u2018Ndiribe Mlandu,\u2019 \u2018Mbumba ya Abraham and \u2018Sekulu\u2019.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
