{"id":65907,"date":"2018-05-28T09:18:37","date_gmt":"2018-05-28T07:18:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=65907"},"modified":"2018-05-28T09:18:37","modified_gmt":"2018-05-28T07:18:37","slug":"lazarus-chakwera-for-solutions-to-electoral-challenges","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2018\/05\/28\/lazarus-chakwera-for-solutions-to-electoral-challenges\/","title":{"rendered":"Lazarus Chakwera for solutions to electoral challenges"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Malawi Congress Party (MCP) president, Lazarus Chakwera, has said Malawi should work on ironing out challenges that mar elections for the country to hold credible elections.<\/p>\n<p>Chakwera was speaking over the weekend when he addressed a rally in Kasungu District.<\/p>\n<p>He said it is high time Malawi stopped being associated with challenges such as loss of ballot papers and accusations of rigging.<\/p>\n<p>He said the MCP was ready to govern the country, citing the dilapidated state of some of the country\u2019s roads as an indication that the ruling Democratic Progressive Party has failed to manage the country.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf we are elected to power in 2019, people should expect change as issues to do with corruption will be dealt with starting from top to bottom,\u201d Chakwera said.<\/p>\n<p>Chakwera also pledged to promote mechanised agriculture.<\/p>\n<p>Concurring with Chakwera, Central Region chairperson, Patrick Zebron Chilondola, said Malawians want new blood.<\/p>\n<p>MCP legislators, traditional leaders and members of the party\u2019s newly elected National Executive Committee were some of those in attendance.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Malawi Congress Party (MCP) president, Lazarus Chakwera, has said Malawi should work on ironing out challenges that mar elections for the country to hold credible elections.
