Mzuni FC should have been grateful meeting high-flying Nyasa Big Bullets this afternoon, when they are depleted by injuries and national team commitments.<\/p>\n
Bullets welcome Mzuni at Mulanje Park Stadium in a TNM Super League first-round match that should test the students\u2019 character and the hosts\u2019 resolve.<\/p>\n
Unfortunately, Bullets are hit by injuries of striker Dave Banda, left-backs Yamikani Fodya and Emmanuel Zoya whereas strikers Chiukepo Msowoya and Patrick Phiri are with the Flames at the Cosafa Castle Cup in South Africa.<\/p>\n
The absence of the duo, Bullets assistant Coach, Elia Kananji, on Thursday admitted, has given the team headache.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have three strikers and minus Phiri and Msowoya, it means that we only have Bright Munthali as an out-and-out striker. Furthermore, playing at Mulanje Stadium poses another challenge as we are not very much used to the pitch,\u201d Kananji said.<\/p>\n
Bullets were finding their feet at Kalulu Stadium in Nchalo, Chikwawa District, but, alongside Be Forward Wanderers, they have been barred from using the venue due to security concerns.<\/p>\n
Therefore, this match poses a stern test for Bullets who will likely bank on the inspiration of ageless winger Fischer Kondowe, attacker Nelson Kangunje and defender Miracle Gabeya.<\/p>\n
Gabeya might step in for Bullets Captain John Lanjesi who is also with the Flames. Bashir Maunde is suspended.<\/p>\n
Bullets are the only unbeaten team this season and lead the 16-member log table with 16 points from six games. Mzuni lie 13th with six points from six games.<\/p>\n
The Mzuzu students are also grappling with off-the-field sponsorship fears after Mzuzu University management announced that they will stop sponsoring the team\u2019s non-student players by this July.<\/p>\n
Yet, the majority of Mzuni players are not students. Reports suggest that Mzuni\u2019s few student players are Kelvin Chisaka and Pempho Mtimuni.<\/p>\n
During the week, Mzuni officials and Coach, Alex Ngwira, admitted that their players\u2019 morale is down.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe announcement of the decision affected them psychologically as they are not sure about their future in the team. This can happen to any person.<\/p>\n
