{"id":65722,"date":"2018-05-24T10:29:59","date_gmt":"2018-05-24T08:29:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=65722"},"modified":"2018-05-24T10:30:00","modified_gmt":"2018-05-24T08:30:00","slug":"all-set-for-presidential-initiative-on-sports","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2018\/05\/24\/all-set-for-presidential-initiative-on-sports\/","title":{"rendered":"All set for Presidential Initiative on Sports"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Chess whiz-kid, Yebo Sanga, is expected to be the centre of attraction when Chess Association of Malawi (Chessam) stages Presidential Initiative on Sports championship at St Andrews International High School in Blantyre on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Sanga said he was not underrating his fellow players ahead of the day-long event that will attract 88 players.<\/p>\n<p>The host region will contribute 40 players to the event.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have to work hard so as to win; otherwise, my colleagues can shock me,\u201d said Sanga, who was named Junior Sports Person of the Year during the inaugural Malawi Sports Awards held in March.<\/p>\n<p>Chessam spokesperson, Makhosi Nyirenda, said all was set for the championship that will see players battling in open, under-16 [boys and girls] and under-12 [boys and girls] categories.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTime control is 30 minutes per player and they will battle in seven rounds. Registration fee per player is K1,000 and K5,000 per school. Registration closes on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cChampion in each category will pocket K50,000 plus a trophy and a gold medal.
