A field of 72 golfers braved scorching sun in the lower Shire but at the end it was Nestor Msowoya and Roza Mbilizi that dominated the Airtel Golf tournament at Nchalo Sports Club on Saturday.<\/p>\n
Msowoya posted 36 points and emerged champion in the men\u2019s section while Mbilizi was the ladies\u2019 champion with 35 points.<\/p>\n
The men\u2019s winner had a birdie on hole 10, par hole 11, 12 and on several other holes.<\/p>\n
\u201cI had a good game from the start and I just carried on with that form. It happens in golf you win sometime and at times your performance betrays you,\u201d Msowoya said.<\/p>\n
For emerging champion, he received Nike Vapor speed driver, Apple Ipad Air Min 16GB, travel Bag and a trophy.<\/p>\n
Lawyer John Gift Mwakhwawa followed Msowoya after he was counted out to finish second. Kenan Siula finished third and he was also counted out after collecting 36 points.<\/p>\n
For finishing second, Mwakhwawa, got Nike Golf Stand Bag, Samsung SE NEO 19300, Travel Bag and a trophy.<\/p>\n
In ladies section, Mbilizi, had to overcome some technical problems to win the competition.<\/p>\n
\u201cI had a bad start. It was a technical problem regarding holes allocation but I picked myself up and concentrate much on the game,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
The ladies champion got Nike Golf Stand Bag, an Apple Ipad Air Min 16GB, a trophy glass and travel bag.<\/p>\n
Carol Banda finished behind the champion, Mbilizi, with 34 points. Banda also won the nearest to the pin on hole 18 while Teri Amaro emerged ladies\u2019 longest hitter on hole 10.<\/p>\n
Banda got a Putter, Samsung S3 NEO I 9300, a trophy and a travel bag.<\/p>\n
In men\u2019s section, Emmanuel Munthali won the nearest to the pin on hole 15 while Archie Graham won the longest drive on hole 10.<\/p>\n
Airtel Malawi chief commercial officer, Charles Kamoto said, the occasion served as an interactive platform for both long and short term benefits to the brand Airtel as well as the golfing community.<\/p>\n
