{"id":65350,"date":"2018-05-17T10:53:22","date_gmt":"2018-05-17T08:53:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=65350"},"modified":"2018-05-17T10:53:23","modified_gmt":"2018-05-17T08:53:23","slug":"wendy-harawa-jimmy-d-psalmist-in-collabo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2018\/05\/17\/wendy-harawa-jimmy-d-psalmist-in-collabo\/","title":{"rendered":"Wendy Harawa, Jimmy D Psalmist in collabo"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Renowned female musician and dancer, Wendy Harawa, has played a fast one on other local artists in her quest to advance her music as she has collaborated with Nigerian gospel singer Jimmy D Psalmist.<\/p>\n<p>The \u2018Mighty Man of War\u2019 star, who left the country on Tuesday, performed at Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) in Lilongwe on Saturday, when he shared the stage with Great Angels Choir and Ethel Kamwendo Banda.<\/p>\n<p>Wendy was the one who made it possible for the Nigerian musician to perform in the country, with the support of DJ Maya.<\/p>\n<p>The female musician, who is also part of the Impakt Events team\u2014 headed by Soldier Lucius Banda\u2014 which drives the Sand Music Festival, posted on her Facebook page on Tuesday that they had also worked on a video for the song \u2018Chisomo\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes, we have worked on a song together. People should just watch the space for \u2018Chisomo\u2019,\u201d Wendy said.<\/p>\n<p>The song has been recorded by Lawrence Lulu Khwisa at Mathumela Studio.<\/p>\n<p>Lulu confirmed that he has been working on the project.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am mixing the song right now. Actually, Jimmy D Psalmist has sang Chichewa lyrics,\u201d Lulu said.<\/p>\n<p>Jimmy D Psalmist said before departure that he was happy to have performed in the country for the first time.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI just want to thank Wendy Harawa for making it possible for me to perform in Malawi. She worked very hard and, without her, I could not have had a chance to bless souls in Malawi,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The Nigerian gospel musician said he was happy to collaborate with Wendy and that he is looking forward to the song.<\/p>\n<p>He wrote on his Facebook page:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo, I was given the name Chisomo\u2014 meaning Grace\u2014 in Malawi. I decided to write a song on it and I ministered it with Malawi\u2019s own Wendy Harawa,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Jimmy D Psalmist said he was sure that the song would bless people.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe produced it last night and the video was done this morning (Tuesday),\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, Wendy launched her fourth album, <em>Nalliah, <\/em>at Lingadzi Inn\u2019s Mandimu Garden in Lilongwe.<\/p>\n<p>The past four years have seen the female musician relegating herself to promoting other artists, compelling some quarters to conclude that she is all but finished with singing.<\/p>\n<p>While admitting that she decelerated on music, Wendy said this was a blessing in disguise as she has come out better.<\/p>\n<p>In her <em>Nalliah<\/em>, there is a gospel song \u2018Ambuye Ndionetseni\u2019, which sees Wendy showing doubting Thomases that she is also good at gospel songs.<\/p>\n<p>To this effect, is her collaboration with Jimmy D Psalmist an indication that she is turning gospel?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI love singing for the Lord and that is what I can say for now,\u201d the singer said.<\/p>\n<p>Wendy\u2019s previous albums are <em>Noah, Hero <\/em>and <em>Africa<\/em>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Renowned female musician and dancer, Wendy Harawa, has played a fast one on other local artists in her quest to advance her music as she has collaborated with Nigerian gospel singer Jimmy D Psalmist.
