The Malawi Confederation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (MCCCI) says this year\u2019s international trade fair show is expected to be held between May 24 and June 3 under the theme, \u201cIndustrialisation: Basis<\/p>\n
for Trade Competitiveness\u201d.<\/p>\n
The theme, according to MCCCI, has been considered to reflect the need for the Malawi economy to produce and trade in goods with value addition, a scenario that can only be possible through industrialisation.<\/p>\n
MCCCI Head of Communications, Millie Kasunda, said during a presser held in Blantyre that the main objective of the trade fair is to provide a platform for local and international participants to showcase their goods and services to potential customers and network with patrons and other participants.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe fair also allows local and international exhibitors to share information on business in their respective countries and develop linkages with suppliers and customers across the borders,\u201d Kasunda said.<\/p>\n
She stated that this year\u2019s theme focuses on the need to adopt a more export\u2013oriented industrialisation as a basis for achieving trade competitiveness.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are optimistic of 100 percent participation of local and international exhibitors, as we continue receiving applications every day to participate in the fair. The rate of applications for participation is likely to accelerate as we draw towards May 11 2018, being the last day of receiving applications,\u201d Kasunda added.<\/p>\n
So far, companies from Mozambique, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, among others have confirmed participation to the fair, now in its 30th year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
