{"id":64991,"date":"2018-05-07T08:38:58","date_gmt":"2018-05-07T06:38:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=64991"},"modified":"2018-05-07T08:38:58","modified_gmt":"2018-05-07T06:38:58","slug":"government-phasing-out-23214s-fertilizer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2018\/05\/07\/government-phasing-out-23214s-fertilizer\/","title":{"rendered":"Government phasing out 23:21:+4s fertilizer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Ministry of Agriculture has started phasing out NPK fertilizer formulation of 23:21: +4S because it has no potassium, officials said over the weekend.<\/p>\n<p>The 23:21 is now being replaced with NPK formulation of 23:10:5+6S+1.0Zn, said, Oborn Tsoka, Public Relations Officer in the ministry.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSince January this year, we are only issuing licenses to those traders importing the new formulation of fertilizer,\u201d Tsoka said.<\/p>\n<p>He said the ministry is conducting sensitization meetings with farmers on the importance of using the new formulation as another way of facilitating the phasing out of 23:21: +4S formulation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are encouraging our farmers to use the new formulation which has potassium and zinc as a micro nutrient,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Tsoka said the recent soil analysis shows that most of the soils in the country lack potassium due to continued use of fertilizers without this micro nutrient.<\/p>\n<p>The ministry is doing demonstrations in all the eight agricultural development divisions across the country to show farmers the profitability of the new formulation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Ministry of Agriculture has started phasing out NPK fertilizer formulation of 23:21: +4S because it has no potassium, officials said over the weekend.
