The governments of Malawi and Mozambique Thursday held a joint meeting to discuss the Ntcheu-Tsangano-Neno Road being constructed in Ntcheu District.<\/p>\n
The 132 Kilometre road, which lies along the boundary of two countries, is being financed by Malawi at a cost of K9.6 billion<\/p>\n
The first phase of the road will stretch from Tsangano turn-off to Kambilonjo Trading Centre in Ntcheu district.<\/p>\n
Ntcheu District Commissioner, Smart Gwedemula, described the meeting as significant because both countries use the road.<\/p>\n
Tsangano District Commissioner, Eugenio Pedro Muchanga, said the construction project will strengthen already existing relationship between Mozambique and Malawi governments.<\/p>\n
\u201cMozambican government is ready to offer support for successful implementation of the road project since it will benefit us all once completed,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Engineering Department Commanding Officer, Cornel Fostino Mgundaphiri, said as contractors they will respect international boundaries when carrying out the works on the road project.<\/p>\n
Malawi Defense Force Engineering Department has been tasked to carry out the works for bitumen road with Henderson and Partners Consulting Civil Engineer as a consultant.<\/p>\n
And the first phase of the road which covers 21 km is expected to be completed in April next year.<\/p>\n
