{"id":64845,"date":"2018-05-04T09:29:52","date_gmt":"2018-05-04T07:29:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=64845"},"modified":"2018-05-04T09:29:52","modified_gmt":"2018-05-04T07:29:52","slug":"daliso-chapondas-bbc-radio-four-commences","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2018\/05\/04\/daliso-chapondas-bbc-radio-four-commences\/","title":{"rendered":"Daliso Chaponda\u2019s BBC Radio four commences"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The country\u2019s UK-based comedian Daliso Chaponda has started his BBC Radio 4 show.<\/p>\n<p>Daliso, who performed in the country in November last year, said he was excited that the show has finally started and that people will be get to hear several issues.<\/p>\n<p>The comedian, who came third in last year\u2019s Britain\u2019s Got Talent, said in an email response yesterday that the show looks at the history of the UK\u2019s relationship with Africa.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is of course an oversimplification as the UK is England, Wales and Scotland, and Africa is 54 countries. Even so, the show looks at themes like colonialism, charity etc, that effect both the UK and Africa,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Daliso said episode 1 looks at slavery and colonialism and called on Malawians to listen to it at https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/ programmes\/b0b0v5hh and that they will recognise the theme music by \u201cour very own Lawi\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Daliso further said:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt feels great doing the show as usually I talk about issues very briefly and move on. This show is different, I explore themes in detail. It is more political than my previous work.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The comedian revealed that a new episode will come out every week in May.<\/p>\n<p>Daliso\u2019s Personal Assistant, Manuela Piotti, said Daliso\u2019s BBC Radio 4 show aired for the first time last evening at 6.30pm (UK time).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDaliso in the series looks at the history of the UK and Africa\u2019s long and complicated past. Daliso is the relationship guidance counsellor, helping to navigate the rocky historical waters between two places,\u201d Piotti said.<\/p>\n<p>He said as a Malawian comedian, who grew up all over the world, Daliso straddles cultural divides and that through the series he helps the audience to better understand how to sort out differences or not.<\/p>\n<p>He said in the first episode Daliso looks at the origins of the relationship between UK and Africa and asks how they first met.<\/p>\n<p>Piotti also said Malawi is featured several times in the four episodes.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The country\u2019s UK-based comedian Daliso Chaponda has started his BBC Radio 4 show.
