Developmental golfer, Peter Lumbe, showcased promising skills to stun 83 other golfers and win the Into Sports Golf tournament at Country Club Limbe (CCL) on Saturday.<\/p>\n
Lumbe was joined on the winners\u2019 podium by prominent golfer Bose Kamphulusa who won the ladies section.<\/p>\n
The developmental golfer, aged 15, playing off handicap seven, scored 41 points to emerge winner in the men\u2019s section whereas Tarang Makhecha, playing off handicap 13, was counted out to finish as a runner-up.<\/p>\n
John Suzi Banda, playing off handicap 12, ended on third position with 29 points.<\/p>\n
The men\u2019s winner, Lumbe, said he was composed and focused on his way to victory.<\/p>\n
\u201cI had some birdies and pars both on my front nine and back nine. I also came to enjoy and learn from the seniors,\u201d Lumbe said.<\/p>\n
Kamphulusa, playing off handicap 26, continued with her dominance when she won the ladies section with 38 points.<\/p>\n
Second-placed Doreen Kavala, playing off handicap 24, scored 35 points to end on second position.<\/p>\n
Senior golfer, JJ Chikapa, won the seniors\u2019 section with 34 points.<\/p>\n
In subsidiary prizes, Joline Bapu hit the longest drive on hole five while Sophie Kalambule won the nearest to the pin.<\/p>\n
Lumbe also crowned his day by winning the nearest to the pin on hole 13 while another developmental golfer, Ganizani Lusho, won the longest drive.<\/p>\n
Into Sports Managing Director, Shabir Ismail, said the company decided to return to supporting golf following a proposal from Country Club Limbe directors after a two-year break.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe felt it was time for us to give back to the sport as part of our corporate social responsibility,\u201d Ismail said.<\/p>\n
