Malawi\u2019s Flames midfielders, Robert Ng\u2019ambi and Gerald Phiri Junior, have been dealt a blow in South Africa following the relegation of their team, Platinum Stars.<\/p>\n
Stars were relegated after their 1-2 loss to AmaZulu on Wednesday confirmed that they will finish bottom of the 16-member log table. With two games to go, Stars have 21 points from 28 matches.<\/p>\n
The former Black Leopards and Nyasa Big Bullets player yesterday said much as he was disappointed with the relegation, he will remain at Stars until they fight for promotion playoffs.<\/p>\n
\u201cFootball can be cruel sometimes. We have had a bad season but I will comment better once we play against Golden Arrows on Saturday,\u201d Ng\u2019ambi said.<\/p>\n
Phiri joined Stars on loan from Bidvest Wits and he is expected to rejoin the parent club next season.<\/p>\n
Wits, who have Gabadinho Mhango on their books, Baroka (Robin Ngalande) and Polokwane City (Muhammad Sulumba) are also not safe from relegation.<\/p>\n
Baroka are on position 11 with 33 points, at par with 12th placed Wits whereas Polokwane are on 13th place with 32 points.<\/p>\n
SuperSport United and Ajax Cape Town are on positions 14 and 15 with 32 and 31 points, respectively.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Flames Captain Limbikani Mzava\u2019s Golden Arrows jumped to 10th place with 34 points from 28 games after beating Patrick Mabedi-led Kaizer Chiefs 3-1 on Tuesday whereas Bloemfontein Celtic, employers of Malawians John Maduka and Atusaye Nyondo, drew 0-0 against Chippa United.<\/p>\n
Celtic are on ninth slot with 35 points. Mamelodi Sundowns lead the standings with 56 points.<\/p>\n
In Zambia, Flames left-winger Dalitso Sailesi\u2019s Lusaka Dynamos are on position seven with 10 points from seven matches.<\/p>\n
Sailesi is expected to feature for Dynamos when they take on Kabwe Youth Academy tomorrow, after also playing in the 1-0 win over Green Buffaloes last Saturday<\/p>\n
