{"id":64529,"date":"2018-04-27T09:28:14","date_gmt":"2018-04-27T07:28:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=64529"},"modified":"2018-04-27T09:28:15","modified_gmt":"2018-04-27T07:28:15","slug":"pp-dispels-dpp-alliance-reports","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2018\/04\/27\/pp-dispels-dpp-alliance-reports\/","title":{"rendered":"PP dispels DPP alliance reports"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Peoples\u2019 Party has dispelled reports that it is entering into an alliance with the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) following the return of its leader and former president Joyce Banda Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Reports say that the alliance will be sealed with the home coming of Banda after over four years of self- imposed exile following her loss in the May 2014 Presidential Elections.<\/p>\n<p>But PP spokesperson Noah Chimpeni dismissed the alliance talk as mere speculation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is nothing like an alliance with the DPP. I am the official spokesperson of the party and I do not know anything about that alliance. PP is an independent party and will remain as such,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Chimpeni then blamed people who are outside the party for propagating what he termed as lies to discredit the PP.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe rumours are being propagated by the people we kicked out of the party. Those are rumours and will remain rumours,\u201d\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n<p>However, several senior members in DPP and PP confided in <em>The Daily Times <\/em>that a PP and DPP alliance is on the cards and Joyce Banda\u2019s coming will cement the new relationship.<\/p>\n<p>Speculation about a possible alliance between the two parties emerged after some PP Members of Parliament met President Peter Mutharika at State House in private.
