Dzuwa Arts Theatre will on Saturday stage their play Debora\u2019s Fate <\/em>at Lilongwe Community Centre Hall.<\/p>\n

This is the group\u2019s second performance this year, having staged Tit For Tat <\/em>in January which attracted a good audience.<\/p>\n

Apart from enjoying Deborah\u2019s Fate<\/em>, the organisers said people will also be treated to other performances from musician Andy Seko, Roy Banda and Frank Naligonje, who is a presidential mimicker and poet.<\/p>\n

The event will also sample the performances of Revelation Theatre and Harmony Arts Theatre.<\/p>\n

Dzuwa Arts Theatre Creative Director, Ignatious Kaphinde, described Deborah\u2019s Fate <\/em>as a mature production.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are geared for the show and at the moment we are doing final touches. It is going to be a day full of entertainment,\u201d Kaphinde said.<\/p>\n

Written and directed by Kaphinde, Debora\u2019s Fate <\/em>has a cast of 18 and they include Tionge Banda, Patrick Symon, Shadreck Moffat and Nellie Kazembe.<\/p>\n

Kaphinde said Debora\u2019s Fate <\/em>is a story of a kingdom which was subjected to torture, injustice and psychological trauma.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe kingdom was destroyed by the wishes of one greedy person and got saved by one courageous person,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Kaphinde said the play delves into the issues of love, hate, greed, jealousy, social injustice and betrayal.<\/p>\n

The theatrical group has since said it will continue to be active as well as stage more productions although Kaphinde was quick to say that they are in need of support to reach out to other places.<\/p>\n

Dzuwa Arts started in 2015 and other plays it has staged are Sweet and Sour and Thembisile<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Kaphinde said the group aims at using their God-given talents and skills to unearth talent but also use the career to generate money.<\/p>\n

He said there is lack of investment or funding in the creative industry and that it is high time the country started appreciating arts as the most important tool for social economic development.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is little or no support from the government and the private sector. We struggle to find good and affordable venues to display our talents. If there can be a little push, I am sure this is an area that can develop quickly and contribute to the development of the nation,\u201d Kaphinde said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
