{"id":64186,"date":"2018-04-20T10:10:54","date_gmt":"2018-04-20T08:10:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=64186"},"modified":"2018-04-20T10:10:55","modified_gmt":"2018-04-20T08:10:55","slug":"mafco-silver-strikers-hire-tione-tembo-peter-mgangira","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2018\/04\/20\/mafco-silver-strikers-hire-tione-tembo-peter-mgangira\/","title":{"rendered":"Mafco, Silver Strikers hire Tione Tembo, Peter Mgangira"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/mwansa-kumanga.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-27060 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/mwansa-kumanga-300x162.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"162\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/mwansa-kumanga-300x162.jpg 300w, https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/mwansa-kumanga-610x332.jpg 610w, https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/mwansa-kumanga.jpg 614w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>Barely a week into the new season, Mafco have hired former Zomba United mentor, Tione Tembo, to deputise Coach Mike Kumanga.<\/p>\n<p>In Lilongwe, Silver Strikers have also employed their former skipper Peter Mgangira as a temporary assistant coach to Young Chimodzi in place of Lovemore Fazili who is with Malawi under-20 national football team.<\/p>\n<p>At Mafco, Tembo replaces Gift Kadammanja, who has been demoted to youth team coach.<\/p>\n<p>Mafco Team Manager, Herbert Lemani, confirmed the development, saying Tembo was expected to start work on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe hope that the team will do well this season,\u201d Lemani said.<\/p>\n<p>Reports suggest that Kadammanja was suspended for two weeks over allegations that he had grudges with some of the team\u2019s players, leading to their underperformance.<\/p>\n<p>Kadammanja on Wednesday refused to comment on the allegations.<\/p>\n<p>Mafco are without players\u2014 Zikhole Nguluwe, Kalisto Kalinda, Martin Masoatheka, Emmanuel Chipeta and Dingiswayo Banda\u2014 who were banned for four games for being involved in a scuffle during the 2-1 loss to Nyasa Big Bullets at Chitowe Ground last season.<\/p>\n<p>Mafco have since beefed up their squad with Alexander Sikwambe, Mabvuto Khozomba, Amadu Ali and Dan Tambala.<\/p>\n<p>The Salima-based team opened the season with a two-all draw against fellow soldiers, Red Lions, at Chitowe Stadium on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>In the close season, Malawi Defence Force reshuffled technical panels for its teams, with Kumanga replacing Temwa Msuku as Mafco\u2019s coach.<\/p>\n<p>Msuku is now an assistant to Kamuzu Barracks\u2019 mentor Billy Phambala whereas Stereo Gondwe is in charge of Lions, with Charles Kamanga steering Moyale Barracks.<\/p>\n<p>In Lilongwe, Silver General Secretary, Thabo Chakaka- Nyirenda, on Wednesday confirmed that Mgangira had stepped in temporarily for Fazili, who is expected to be with the junior Flames until June.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Barely a week into the new season, Mafco have hired former Zomba United mentor, Tione Tembo, to deputise Coach Mike Kumanga.
