Masters Security General Secretary, Zacharia Nyirenda, has said he does not regret coming out in the open to tell the nation about the team\u2019s financial position.<\/p>\n
Last week, Nyirenda told MIJ Radio that it would take the \u2018grace of God\u2019 for the team to participate in the TNM Super League this season.<\/p>\n
His remarks did not go down well with the team\u2019s owner, Alfred Gangata, who, in an interview with Weekend Nation <\/em>over the weekend, described Nyirenda\u2019s sentiments as \u201cnonsense\u201d.<\/p>\n But Nyirenda said it was important for people to have the correct perception of Masters.<\/p>\n \u201cIt is important to speak the truth about the team\u2019s position. It will help us and the players psychologically as they will know where to position their mindsets. We are playing for the love of the game.<\/p>\n \u201cMoney might come but might not be there [currently]. It is not only us who are in this situation. Most clubs have not paid their players for some months. The whole reason we are in the limelight because of how we positioned ourselves. We positioned our club as top-notch; so, when we have a small issue, people build a mountain out of a molehill,\u201d Nyirenda said.<\/p>\n Gangata was quoted in the Weekend Nation <\/em>as saying, having sponsored the team\u2019s participation in the Confederation of African Football Confederation Cup, the team cannot fail to participate in the Super League.<\/p>\n Nyirenda, however, said Gangata should know better about what is happening in the team.<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t know as in what capacity he was speaking. If he was speaking as a club chairman, surely he could have shared my concerns. But if he was interviewed as a sponsor of the club, maybe that is why he was saying that. But I stand what I said,\u201d Nyirenda said.<\/p>\n Masters defender, Richard Chande, has since pleaded with the team\u2019s officials to prioritise players\u2019 welfare.<\/p>\n \u201cWe have now been paid part of the outstanding dues. Morale in the team is high.
